Soldier Ride - History

Soldier Ride was founded in 2004 by a group from East Hampton, New York who came together to show their support towards the members of our armed forces who have sacrificed so much for us. After running a number of successful fundraisers to benefit individual soldiers, we knew that we had to expand our efforts to support the thousands of other severely injured service men and women recovering in military hospitals around the country. In 2004 and 2005 one of our members, Chris Carney, bicycled across America to raise public awareness and support for the wounded.

Many severely wounded servicemen and women joined Chris to bicycle in support of their fellow injured soldiers. Thanks to the generous support of our donors and corporate sponsors, Soldier Ride has reached thousands of wounded servicemen and women, providing comfort items, counseling, and rehabilitation to aid in the transition from a hospital bed to an independent life at home.

Soldier Ride - America Still Remembers

Each year Soldier Ride sponsors a cross-country cycling event to aid in the rehabilitation of the brave men and women who return home with injuries incurred in the current military conflicts abroad. The theme of our cross-country ride this year is "America Still Remembers." As the wounded service members participating in our ride cycle from city to city, we aim to show them that the country is still behind those who have sacrificed life or limb in support of our freedom. Soldier Ride can provide the vital services needed by severely injured veterans and their families only with the generous support of our donors. The money we receive helps us to provide comfort and aid to the injured at their bedside, alleviate the financial burden to families, sponsor adaptive sports and recreation events, and raise public awareness about the needs of the wounded and their families. Please consider making a donation to help wounded soldiers today. Your contribution to Soldier Ride is tax deductible.

The Wounded Warrior Project Soldier Ride's cycling programs give severely wounded servicemen and women the opportunity to reinvigorate their bodies and uplift their spirits. Soldier Ride provides each of the brave men and women who participate in our ride with the adaptive equipment they need to cycle, even if they are missing one or more limbs. Participation in our cycling and recreational events fosters the rehabilitation of the wounded by showing them that they can still lead active, independent lives and gives families the opportunity to reconnect outside of the hospital environment.

The Wounded Warrior Project

The Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) was founded on the principle that veterans are our nation's greatest citizens. The WWP seeks to assist those men and women of our armed forces who have been severely injured during the conflicts in Iraq, Afghanistan, and other locations around the world. Many of the injuries are traumatic amputations, gunshot wounds, burns and blast injuries that will retire these brave warriors from military service.

The Wounded Warrior Project is dedicated to serving the needs of a new generation of veterans and ensuring that the United States government and the American public live by our motto, "Putting Veterans First in America." The WWP provides vital assistance to severely injured service members at the critical time between their hospital recovery and their transition to civilian life back home. Our work begins right at the hospital bedside of the severely injured as they undergo treatment and rehabilitation in Department of Defense facilities and continues through their rehabilitation. Our programs are designed to meet the following four areas of need:

Providing comfort and aid to patients and families;

Assisting the wounded in their rehabilitation and transition to civilian life;

Educating the public about the sacrifices made by these courageous individuals and enlisting public support  for their needs;

Providing severely injured service members and disabled veterans with a unified voice in national and local issues of importance to them.

Thanks to the generous support of the American public, the WWP has reached thousands of wounded service members, providing comfort items, counseling, and rehabilitation to aid in the transition from a hospital bed to an independent life at home. Click here to learn more about our programs.

Soldier Ride 2006

Leonard Consulting had a good time in June 2006 when the Soldier Ride came through Little Rock.  Fred Steube at The Arkansas Department of Vetrans Affairs was their guide as they toured Little Rock.  We donated a Ironman Bike Helmets for each rider , bike strobes and lights for their night rides as they cross the desert.  LCG Inc is an Official Helmet supplier for the Soldier Ride.
